13Mar14 - Positive Thinking

I have been reading these two books from the library lately, Positive Thinking and
Creative Visualization.
I saw a friend recommended Creative Visualization on Facebook and how it helped him changed his attitude towards living and became happier and more positive.

Creative Visualization explains how your thinking can affect the outer world, whether it is positive or negative. It teaches you how to have clear definitive goals and desires, and how to work towards them with the proper mindset and attitude. 

Positive Thinking is a pretty easy to understand book, with many charts and diagrams. It is pretty small book so you can always bring it along and read it when you need a boost of positive energy.

A change of attitude can change the entire situation, a crisis can be an opportunity, a failure can be a lesson.
By rephrasing your words and sentences, your mind will react totally different!

08Mar14 - Haze is back!

It is important to take extra care of our eyes, throat and respiratory system as the haze
will cost discomfort and itchiness.

Food such as honey and lemon can help sooth dry and sore throat, while chrysanthemum, white fungus, pear can nourish the lungs.

Do try to stay indoor and wear a mask if the haze gets really bad!

11Feb14 - Pyrite

Iron Pyrite, or also known as Fool's Gold, for its resemblance of real gold.
Last time miners would thought that they have stroked gold but in fact it was just pyrite.

Since they look almost like real gold, they are a symbol of wealth and good luck.
Due to its crystal properties, they are found in cuboid (cube) form. They are usually mixed
with other crystals and sand particles so it is quite rare to find a perfect cube of pyrite

    Such a perfect piece of pyrite specimen would be very rare.

Pyrite might decompose into iron oxide and sulfate when exposed to air and water, especially in smaller pieces.

Pyrite has strong energy shield and it helps overcome inertia and the feeling of inadequacy.
It can also energize the area when you place it. ( like on your work desk)

    Pyrite Sun. Golden ray of light radiates from it.

Pyrite SunMineralogists now believe that they are pyrite crystals formed between layers of slate and coal that simply had no room to grow in the traditional cubes that one normally finds pyrite. Formed 350 million years ago deep in the coal mines of Illinois, USA, each is unique.

Pyrite can also be found in Lapis Lazuli.

08Feb14 - Hoya Flowers

I have this little hoya plant for years and it had bloomed only once few years ago.
I was surprised to find a bunch of flower buds just before Chinese New Year and was
extra careful taking care of it!

It finally bloomed few days ago and it was amazing! Hope I don't have to wait for another few years for it bloom again! :D

07Feb14 - Kemuning Hitam (Black Gold wood)

Raya Kemuning Hitam or Black Gold wood, is a popular wood in Malaysia and Indonesia.

It is said to protect the hunters from wild animals and poisonous bites.
They also believe soaking it in water and drinking the water will cure illness.
They made it into kris, daggers, rings and Tashib (Muslim prayer beads)

     Black or dark brown color exterior and core.

I do not see this often here in Singapore. People in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand use it as a protection against black magic and curses.

22Jan14 - 2014 Flying Stars Guide

It has been a super busy month in 2014! Finally have a little time to share with everyone
about the Flying Stars for 2014. Flying Star Feng Shui chart maps out the distribution of energy in each of the nine sectors, usually referred to as the nine palaces of the home.

The energy changes every year, on the first day of Spring, also known as 'Lap Chun' 立春.

It is advised to take care of the negative stars first, then improve on boosting of the good stars.
The flying stars apply to the space, as well as the door facing direction. So for example if you
have a room in the SouthWest space, and have a door facing North (Standing inside the room seeing out). You have to take care of both the SouthWest and North Flying Stars.

In 2014, the ruling number is 4, so its a good sign as 4 is an auspicious numbers
that signifies good relationships and education luck!

The Negative Stars

#2 Illness Star - East
The Black Illness Star #2 brings sickness and illness. If you are facing East, you
should place metal cures in the afflicted area. Its not advisable to stay in bedroom
in the East area. Brass and obsidian hulou are good remedies to weaken this star

#3 Hostile/Quarrelsome Star - SouthEast
This star brings quarrels, misunderstanding and aggravations to the house. Try to keep
this area quiet and avoid renovation as not to activate its ill effects. This area also affects
the first daughter and those born in the year of Snake and Dragon. You will lose temper easily
and find it hard to communicate well with others. The color Red is good to subdue this Wood star and items like Peace and Harmony Amulet, Double Pyramid Red Goddess Mirror will help
bring this Star under control.

#5 Yellow Misfortune Star - NorthWest
The Wu Huang, is one of the most feared Star as it brings misfortune and bad luck. Last year it
was in the centre of the house and it affected everyone. Leave this area quiet, no renovation
and place cures to neutralize it. The patriarch, those born in the year of Dog and Boar, main door facing or people sleeping in this sector will feel the impact of this star. Metal is a good
cure such as 5-elements pagoda, brass wind-chime, singing bowl. They will weakness the Earth energy.

#7 Violent Star - NorthEast
This star brings theft, burglary and violence. You will be vulnerable to cheats and money loss. It could also bring injuries and bloodshed in serious cases. The youngest daughter, those born in the year of Ox and Tiger, people sleeping in the bedroom in NE, or main door facing this direction, you must be extra cautious and be more alert. To subdue this Red Star, water cures
such as Sodalite Rhino and Elephants and Eight Petal Lotus Mirror of Manjushri should be placed in the area or carried around.


The Prosperous Stars

#1 Victory Star - SouthWest
This White Star #1 brings good mentor luck and career luck. Business owners will have better victory luck in their competitive pursuits. The Matriarch of the house, those born in the Sheep and Monkey will benefit more from this lucky star. Items to boost this star include Victory Banner, Figurines of horses,  Wind horse.

#4 Romance Star - Centre
This is both the Romance and Academic Star, meaning it helps both relationships and academic achievements. 
For those who likes to improve on romance, rose quartz, mandarin ducks figurines and double-happiness symbols are good to have.

#6 Heavenly Star - West
